Bhutan, also known as Drukyul or Kingdom of Thunder Dragon is a landlocked country in the eastern Himalayas, bordered by Republic of China in the North and India in the south, east and west. The country is well-known for the Philosophy of Gross National Happiness which was pioneered by the King of Bhutan. Highest unclimbed mountains ranging from 7000 metres (23,000ft) in the north and lush subtropical foothills in the south bordering India make the country very rich in bio-diversity. The dramatic landscape of Bhutan has very popular treks; Jomolhari Trek which is named after Mt. Jomolhari (7314 m) and Snowman Trek, the toughest trek in the world. Many pilgrimage sites for Buddhists; Taktsang or Tiger’s Nest clinging on a rocky cliff, Kyichu Lhakhang and Jambay Lhakhang are the oldest Buddhist temples, located in different parts of Bhutan.
